New Alberta Environment and Parks Directive About Scour Protection for Pipelines
Effective March 1, 2018, Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) issued Directive on Use of Approvals to Allow Riverbed Armouring to Provide Scour Protection for Pipelines (AEP 2018 Conservation #1). Under this new directive, operators can apply for a Water Act approval to “armour” pipeline crossings that meet the criteria outlined in the directive. Operators of AER-regulated pipelines must submit their applications to us.
