The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) will hold a public hearing of application 1911974 at Govier Hall, 250 – 5th Street SW, Calgary, Alberta, starting on September 24, 2019, at 9:00 a.m. The hearing will be audio webcast at www.meetview.com/aer.
The AER issued a notice of hearing on February 21, 2019, and has received requests to participate in response to that notice. All parties must be present to register at the start of the hearing.
Description of the Application
Encana Corporation applied under Directive 065: Resources Applications for Oil and Gas Reservoirs for approval for acid gas disposal in the Belloy aquifer about 30 kilometres northwest of Grande Prairie, Alberta. The disposal would be through a horizontal well in the Wembley Field. The well has a surface location of Legal Subdivision (LSD) 9, Section 21, Township 73, Range 9, West of the 6th Meridian, and a bottomhole location of LSD 16-17-073-09W6M. The well would have a maximum injection rate of 530 000 cubic metres (m3) per day for acid gas disposal and a cumulative acid gas volume of 2320 million m3 under standard conditions.
