Enhanced Monitoring During Spring Snow Melt
Given recent environmental conditions and states of emergency being declared in parts of Alberta due to overland flooding, the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) reminds licensees of their responsibility to take appropriate precautions to ensure public safety and environmental protection by minimizing the potential impacts of an oil-and-gas related incident as a result of flooding.
All licensees must be aware of the potential for equipment damage from flooding and physically inspect and assess any sites and equipment that have been or may be affected.
Licensees should have procedures in place to monitor for flood advisories and be prepared to take the necessary steps to protect their oil and gas infrastructure.
